The biggest threat to the human diet is sugar and high carbohydrate foods. Humans have relied on meat as a critical source of nutrition for thousands of years. Unhealthy cooking methods can indeed negate the benefits of this superfood. Plan on eating meat in any survival situation, it is essential for proper nutrition.
Evolution has designed human bodies into those of meat-eaters. Our bodies have adapted over time to be those of an omnivore. For one point five million years, humans have grown strong on meat. Herbivores have different digestives systems than meat-eaters. They have long digestive systems and specially designed organs to process plant material and obtain the nutrients from the plants. Humans do not possess these things.
Proteins from meat are the best proteins for the human body. Only animal proteins have all types of amino acids required by the body. The Corona Virus has been a significant problem for meat supply. Global supply chain disruptions left millions of cargo containers rotting in the ocean while quarantines were mandated. Smithfield closed plants in Sioux Falls South Dakota, which provides four to five percent of the pork to the United States. The government insisted workers were to stay home, and production slowed further. JBS USA closed its beef plant in Souderton Pennsylvania and reduced output in Greeley Colorado. Cargill and Tyson's foods shut down pants in Pennsylvania and Iowa.
Farmers have nowhere to send their animals for processing and shipping, and the USDA is suggesting euthanization without distribution. Refrigeration units are the primary way to store meat which limits stocking capacity. The government took all these steps without any evidence that humans can contract Covid through food or food packing processes.
There is hope for the future of meat supply, and it focuses on local production. Find out if there is some way you can assist your local ranchers. Buy local, so the ranchers have an outlet for their products. Encourage the USDA to start sending inspectors to smaller butcher shops so they can pick up the slack the large manufactures can't fulfill right now. Be a supporter of sustainable, organic meat products produced on a local level without the reliance upon these huge facilities.
Eating meat is essential for human survival. Any disaster plans should consider the need for meat in the diet. Learn healthy cooking methods to maintain the nutritional values of meat.
