Family Planning Is "Hugely" Important

  • Each plan depends on the situation

  • The plan keeps everyone on the same page with clear objectives.

  • If a disaster were to happen you would not have time to decide what to do. You need to have a place in plan prior to any event.

  • Conduct family meetings so everyone is informed about the plan.

Your Personal Plan

  • Your plan will vary based on your family circumstance and the situation you encounter.

  • Kids in college or just starting out on their own will need to have get home plans, depending on how far away they are. They will still consider you their safety net so you need to plan for them.

  • Young children should be gathered by a parent or loved one immediately.

  • Adults working away from home will also need a get home plan with a get home bag and gasoline planned for in advance.

Tips for Families with Young Kids

  • Instill the importance of having a plan while they are young. They will retain more than you think.

  • Get them involved, give them responsibilities and don't talk at them, talk with them.

  • Make it fun.

  • Practice your plan together. Let the kids give input and then practice their plan. Examine what things worked and didn't together.

  • Explain why it is important!

Day After Disaster Ch 19

Dale and Lisa Goodwin

"In early 2013 Lisa and I decided to create SurvivalistPrepper.net and become a bigger part of the preparedness community, we are not the overboard tinfoil hat wearing conspiracy theorists, we are just like you, everyday Americans that enjoy the freedoms that this country offers.

Lisa is more of the prepper and I am more of the survivalist or outdoor type and we write articles ranging from first aid, to food storage to primitive and wilderness skills…basically anything that involves preparedness and survival." -Dale Goodwin
