Human history is packed full of stories of magical moments when humans came together. Great leaders like Ghengis Kahn united nomadic tribes, whether by force or choice, into a group whose geographic expansion still marks it as the largest empire in history. The Roman Empire included new features like the senate to give the people a voice, but forced unity in the form of slavery still existed there. Many imagine The United States of America as the place were people united by choice rather than force. However, not everyone who lived in America at that time was disloyal to Britain. To those individuals, unity would have been more forced than chosen.

In any system, someone is among the population that chose to unite, or someone forced them to. This fact leads to the question, what is unity? If you decide to combine efforts, you and a group of people need to believe in a particular social standard or ethical code. When you choose to unite with a specific group, you give up the decision to truly exercise everything you believe in for the consensus of the group.

Alternatively, you could be born into a society where authoritarian figures force individuals to behave in a certain way and escaping that scenario may be impossible. Another may also overtake your group. This replacement regime could be in the form of a revolution or invasion. In such a case, the dominant group of people often forced unity on the others.

In either case, the folks in charge establish a set of social standards. If you break this code, there are consequences to your actions. Breaking the social system in a forced unity situation usually warrants a more extreme punishment than in chosen unity situations. A revolt is only an attempt by the people who agree to the once social norm to supplant the social model of another group.

Social norms are enforced or encouraged in many different ways throughout the world. Sometimes, cultures will attempt to blend with others or eliminate those people. China is known for moving its people in and denying natives jobs, changing the native laws, and instilling their rules into the region. Thus, the natives are left in hopeless situations, while the Chinese dominate the area. China has also instituted a “Pair Up” program. This program partners a Muslim woman with a Han man so that they can create a united society together. This forced unity ensures the children are of Chinese descent.

America is not innocent in the suppressing of specific populations. Targeted populations of immigrants, people of color, disabled, and mentally ill have been the victims of eugenics throughout most of the nineteenth century. This class of undesirables was encouraged to have abortions and participate in sterilization. Hitler himself emulated the practices that the Americans were deploying on a much more vigorous level.

To unite a group, you have to learn to manipulate people. Like most powers, this can be used for great good or great evil, but either way, the manipulator must first determine the nature of the individuals in the group and what they care about. To get control of the group, the manipulator must take advantage of these tendencies of caring for either the gain of the group or personal gain. The manipulator understands there will be suffering to accomplish the goals felt by the group or the manipulated. She needs to be a righteous person or a good actress because she will need to earn trust. 

Once trust is earned, manipulators deploy truth, and riotousness or lies and deceit to manipulate the group or individual. Either way, emotions of the managed individuals must be engaged, and the sense of responsibility to the group or the manipulator must be invoked. Humbleness and the request for forgiveness often encourage the individual to go along with the manipulator or group. The manipulator will often play the victim to sway the manipulated. If the group or individuals try to stray, sudden flashes of rage or anger can usually keep them in line. The shock over the punishment will want to make them want to see the quiet, helpful side of the manipulator. When people and groups are manipulated for evil purposes, helplessness and hopelessness will lead the individual to follow the authority of the manipulator.

I have no doubt. The government is manipulating you right now. Marketers designed social media to manipulate individuals into polarizing themselves and choosing marketing options. News media is a fear-based propaganda market urging individuals to lose hope in their fellow countrymen. Big business is not immune. They are social media. They are the endless marketing strategies designed to get you to buy, buy, buy. The agenda of the billionaires forcing the world to dance to their tune is now a global movement, attempting to unite all of humanity under a universal social system.
