After witnessing her parents struggling with medical problems, Tami started researching ways of being nutritionally responsible and ensuring that her body was receiving a proper blend of vitamins. Curious why people would crush up their eggshells to feed back to their chickens, Tami found out that the shells are rich in magnesium and calcium. The inner egg membrane is also high in hyaluronic acid. Giving the chickens the increased amounts of calcium helps insure future egg shells are strong. She found out that the shells could also be utilized for human consumption and provide valuable nutrition for the body without relying upon a corporation to make a pill.

While discussing Tami's passion for nutritional tips and tricks, it came to me that vitamins would be a very valuable thing to include in your evacuation kit or go-bag. Much like protein powder, if you were low on food supplies, these easy to carry powders would help ensure your body's nutritional needs were being met.

While researching vitamins and which ones she should be taking, Tami found that there are sometimes big differences between expensive and inexpensive vitamins. More surprisingly the most expensive ones were not always the most nutritionally impressive. Some of them have high levels of unhealthy chemicals or their ingredients were not bio available, meaning your body will not digest the vitamin completely. When you make your own vitamin blend, you know exactly what is in it and you make use of resources you may otherwise have disposed of.

Harvesting egg shells for consumption is not a difficult task. The first thing you do is wash them thoroughly. Then store them in a plastic bag in the fridge until you have enough to make a batch. Do not try to remove the inner membrane. Once you can make a big batch, spread the shells out on a cookie sheet and put them into the oven to dry. If you were in a grid down scenario you would have to get creative: put outside in sun to dry, utilize a earth oven, or put them in the back window of a vehicle. Then use a coffee grinder or mortar and pestle to grind them to a fine powder. You can add this powder to a smoothie, put it in your food or put it in a capsule.

There are pros and cons to putting your vitamins into a capsule. Probably the most obvious benefit is they are convenient. However you have to purchase the capsules. They are tough to fill. The capsule might not be as digestible, causing you to get a diminished effect from the vitamin supplement.

Of course your vitamins will need more than just egg shells to keep your body healthy. Citrus is another item you can harvest and include. You can use orange, lemon, lime or grapefruit peels. Store your peels in a plastic baggy and put them in the fridge. Make sure you are purchasing organic products and washing your pills thoroughly. Growing your own or harvesting them from the tree is always best. Once you have a large amount accumulated, dry them and grind them.

Research your geographic area so you can identify plants in your area that you can use in your vitamin mixture.

You can also purchase bulk products to add to your mixture. Tami recommends buying from bulksupplements.com Their products come in heavy duty plastic packaging to ensure long term viability. Tami includes: DMAE-Bitartrate Powder,  CLA Powder (Conjugated Linoleic Acid)Raspberry Ketones Capsules. At Bulk Supplements they also have a products by goal tab that can help you find products suited for your specific objectives or nutritional needs.

Tami also explains that these supplements can do much or than just provide nutrition. Xylitol Crystals , coconut oil and tea tree oil can be combined to make your own re-mineralizing toothpaste. Activated charcoal can be used as a teeth whitener in place of dangerous commercial products.

Many of us are currently taking vitamin supplements. How do you know if your vitamin supplement is a quality product? Tami located a company called Labdoor.com. Labdoor is an independent company that tests supplemental products to identify chemical components and overall product quality. You can look through previously tested products or send them a sample for them to test. As was stated earlier: price does not always equal quality.

The best way for your body to absorb nutrients is in the powder form. Capsules take time for your body to digest. Also your body will only absorb some vitamins with the assistance of others. If your body does not have the levels required much of your vitamin supplementation will be in vein.

Don't underestimate the value of Vitamin C. It wards of scurvy and is a cancer fighter.

Get as close to nature as possible when providing vitamins for your body. You can't trust big companies to cut corners in order to protect their bottom line. Always research the ingredients of any product you are taking in order to ensure the quality and toxicity levels.

Recent research as shown the value of the eating habits of our ancestors. They utilized an animal from nose to tail. There are important nutrients provided from each of the specific body parts. Bone marrow is very nutritious and something most people aren't ingesting. Research has also shown that if you are having a problem with a specific organ, eating that organ from an animal can give you the nutrition to help heal your organ. However, many individuals find the flavor off putting. Supplements can provide the solution.

Milkweed thistle is something you should include in your vitamin supplementation to assist with liver health.

Store your vitamin powders in a central location. If you need to evacuate pour your powders into a single plastic bag for ease of carry and put it in your go-bag. You should also include some protein powder and of course some jerky for protein and trap setting.

Another interesting suggestion is that everyone participates in a fast or intermittent fast. The more fat reliable your body is the more it will be affected when it is not constantly supplied that energy source. The fist seventy two hours of a disaster are critical. If you are suddenly without a food supply your brain function will be seriously affected. You need to be aware at these times. The vitamins you carry and experience with fasting will prevent your body from experiencing a Keto Flu. A keto flu occurs when your body transitions from burning sugar to burning fat for most of its energy needs. This can make you feel worn down and unable to function.

Train while you fast to see how much you can tax your body. Get used to small, low-carb meals. Our traditional food pyramid was based upon beliefs that will leave your body feeling sluggish, reduce brain function, cause weight gain and affect overall fitness.

A grid down scenario or natural disaster might cut the supply of sugar and caffeine available to you. Withdraws from these can cause crippling headaches. To aid with this Tami recommends a Himalayan sea salt mixture:

  1. Fill a glass jar about 1/4 of the way with himalayan salt (or Real Salt or celtic sea salt), either ground or in chunks. Fill the rest of the way with filtered water. Add a plastic lid (not metal!), shake and let sit overnight. You should always have some undissolved salt in the jar, this means the water is fully saturated. Add more salt if needed.

  2. In the morning, take 1 tsp. of sole, mixed into some room temperature water, upon waking. Never use metal utensils with your sole!

  3. Keep refilling your jar with salt and water when it runs low.

       (recipe from: https://empoweredsustenance.com/himalayan-salt-benefits/)

Like the recipe above, Tami recommends taking 1 teaspoon. If it tastes salty it means your body was lacking and needed replenishment. There are approximately eighty four different mineral in Himalayan sea salt. It provides electrolytes without the sugar of an energy drink. It assists with hydration and energy levels.

Tami also stresses the importance of gut health when it comes to overall health. Make sure you are taking a quality probiotic. Do your research! Collagen is another important supplement for gut health. Edible diatomaceous earth can also assist with gut health and remove parasites from your system.

Your vitamin powders can also be made into gummies for the kids.

The bottom line is: Take responsibility for your nutrition. Know what's in the products you are taking or, better yet, make your own.
